depth psychotherapy for the human heart

Just like a seed, all of us are born with the intuitive wisdom we need to blossom into our truest selves. Often, the experience of suffering is an initiation into the unknown, an invitation to discover a more whole vision of ourselves.

Hello! I’m Pam Soffer.

MA, AMFT, CMT

If you are undergoing change or are looking to create new ways of being in the world, the work we do together will help you embrace life's challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation. Informed by eastern philosophy, Mindfulness, and Somatics, we explore your inner life, identify limiting patterns, develop your mind-body-spirit connection, and deepen your capacity for joy and presence.

I use a Depth/Jungian approach that follows the creative wisdom of your own being to give voice to what lies outside of everyday awareness. My training in Ayurveda deepens this holistic perspective, inviting us to cultivate balance in all aspects of our lives. Traditions that honor the greater rhythms of Nature serve as a guiding source of inspiration.

As a trauma-informed therapist, these nature-based perspectives, along with EMDR, Breathwork and IFS provide concrete tools to soothe the nervous system, and, attuning with the wisdom of the body, release what's no longer useful. Personal growth is a lifelong journey — it's always an honor to support individuals and couples on their unique path.

our work will be

Depth Oriented (Soul over Symptom) - We will access the healing of the unconscious using dreams, imagination and creative methods to help us see through the circumstances and symptoms of our lives to the intuitive wisdom we all carry. This more soulful approach sees our symptoms as valuable feedback that can help us uncover the unique path each of us walks.

Trauma Informed (EMDR) - In our work, if we find that certain traumatic events or limiting beliefs are making it difficult for us to initiate change, I love to employ EMDR to work with the nervous system and dislodge trauma that is stuck in the system.

Embodied and Somatic - Our culture emphasizes a focus on intellect and doing instead of being. Most of us grow out of being able to communicate intimately with our bodies and nervous systems. But whether or not you listen your body, it is always speaking to you. Together we address trauma and awaken your connection to yourself as a sensing, embodied being.

Rooted in Curiosity- I believe that to overcome fear and cultivate a perspective of loving awareness and surrender we must deepen our ability to be curious about ourselves, each other and the world.

Empowered -You hold the key to your own healing. My goal is to offer tools and containment so that you can discover your own power and fan the flame of your authentic Self.

Creative and Playful - Healing can be fun! Of course it can be hard to work to face the trauma in our histories and the unseen parts of ourselves, but activating our imagination and remembering how to play can reveal previously unknown possibilities and accelerate our healing.

Holistic - We will apply a systemic approach. This means bringing awareness to our human relationships, our relationships with our bodies and nervous systems, our spiritual inclinations, and our relationships to the rhythms of the natural world. With my background and training in Ecotherapy, Ayurveda, Breathwork and Craniosacral/Nervous System healing, we will have a number of tools to draw on.

Outdoor Options - In LA, we have access to a number of nature spaces and gardens. In addition to meeting in the office, I will encourage us to have sessions outdoors where we can explore the world, move our bodies and connect directly to the world around us. Learn more about options for working together.

Climate Crisis Aware - As we face unprecedented ecological destruction, it is only natural to experience the suffering of the world reflected within. Drawing on teachings from Joanna Macy and Bill Plotkin, we will face the grief of this moment and learn to cultivate active hope.

are you ready to grow?
